The NWA NAACP Scholarship shall be awarded annually at the NWA NAACP Scholarship Banquet. The
scholarship will be disbursed in the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded.
2. When finances are available, one-time academic year scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00, will be
given to an individual who is living in Northwest Arkansas (Benton, Madison or Washington county) and
currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in NWA, or any accredited University.
3. Scholarship applications will be available for interested parties no later than March 15, 2024. Applications
must be emailed to http://nwanaacp@gmail.com and received no later than 5:00 pm on April 15,
2024.
4. The members of the NWA NAACP scholarship committee shall review the applications and submit their
recommendations to the NWA NAACP Executive Board for final approval. Once the name(s) has/have
been accepted by the Board, the recipient(s) will be notified via email. Recipients will be invited to take
award photos and the recipients will be highlighted on social media after May 1, 2024.
5. Once the student has fulfilled the obligation of submitting proof of enrollment, the scholarship will be sent
to the chosen institution in the name of the student. Proof of enrollment and official transcript must be
sent to: NWA Branch #60AC of the NAACP, PO Box 4712, Fayetteville, AR 72702. Information must
be submitted no later than August 1, 2024. Failure to meet the deadline could result in forfeiture of
scholarship. Scholarship checks will be submitted to respective institutions on or before August 15,
2024 (or when classes begin, if later).
Eligibility Criteria
1. Applicants shall be individuals living in Northwest Arkansas, originally from the NWA area, (high school
senior, undergraduate, graduate or professional/medical students) and currently enrolled or intend to enroll
for Fall 2024 in an accredited college or university anywhere.
2. Proof of enrollment from the Registrar’s office will be required before payment of the scholarship award.
3. High seniors and currently enrolled undergraduate students must have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point
average on their last official academic transcript. The Graduate or Professional School student must have
at least a 2.7 cumulative grade point average on their last official academic transcript.
4. Forfeiture of the scholarship shall result if the student fails to maintain enrollment in an accredited college
or university. All undergraduate awardees must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 hours per semester during
the academic year of the scholarship award. Graduate and Law awardees must be full-time students each
semester, as defined by their respective schools.
5. In the event forfeiture occurs, the scholarship shall remain in the scholarship fund.
